Cytomegalovirus: Investigational Vaccine Study

Study Now Open in Maryland, Nebraska, New York & Ohio

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a common virus for people of all ages. Though the majority of children and adults don’t experience symptoms, CMV infection before or during birth in newborns (congenital CMV infection) can result in significant lifelong disability. CMV is the most common infectious cause of birth defects in the U.S.

About 1 out of 200 babies is born with congenital CMV infection, and 1 out of 5 babies with congenital CMV infection will have symptoms or long-term health problems, such as hearing loss. Researchers are now studying an investigational CMV vaccine.
