When blood sugar is too high, the blood vessels in the retina of the eye can become blocked, causing inadequate blood flow. Diabetics are at risk of developing diabetic macular ischemia (DMI), a serious eye condition which can cause vision problems and even blindness. There is currently no medication approved to treat DMI. People age 18 or older may be eligible to join this research study of an investigational medication for DMI.
