Endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent disease characterized by the presence of endometrial-like tissue abnormally implanted outside the uterus, usually on other reproductive organs inside the pelvis or in the abdominal cavity. Symptoms of endometriosis can include pain associated with menstruation (dysmenorrhea), non-menstrual pelvic pain, pain during or after intercourse (dyspareunia), and difficulty getting pregnant. Meridian is now conducting a clinical study to evaluate an investigational, non-hormonal medication for endometriosis-related pain.
