It’s almost influenza (flu) season. The flu is an infectious disease characterized by the abrupt onset of respiratory and systemic symptoms, such as fever, cough, sore throat, and rhinitis. Research studies are crucial, especially for developing vaccines to protect older adults and persons with underlying medical conditions. Meridian is now seeking participants for a Phase 3 investigational flu vaccine study in a new age group.

Eligible participants…

Must be age 50-64
Must NOT have received this season’s flu vaccine yet
Must NOT have been vaccinated against COVID-19 within 14 or 28 days of the start of the study or are planning to receive such a vaccine within 7 days of administration of the study vaccine
Must NOT have one or more progressive, unstable or uncontrolled clinical conditions
May receive compensation for travel
Do not need insurance to join this study

Will I benefit from this study?

You are not guaranteed to benefit from being in a clinical study. However, information gathered in this study may help prevent influenza (flu) for you and others worldwide.

Is participation voluntary after I submit my information?

Yes. Participation in a study is entirely voluntary. In the informed consent process, you’ll learn about the vaccine being studied, your role in the trial, potential side effects, tests that will be performed, and the number of visits required. You will need to sign an informed consent form to join the study only after you fully understand your role in the study.

Will I get a physical exam?

If you join the study, you will receive a physical exam. You may also receive specific exams or tests — the results of which will be shared with you.

Will I receive compensation?

While participation in a clinical study is voluntary, you may be reimbursed for your study-related travel expenses. After you submit your information, a Meridian enrollment specialist will call you to talk about the study. Staff at the research clinic will discuss possible reimbursement with you.
