Human milk oligosaccharides (HMO) are a group of bioactive carbohydrates found in human breast milk. Emerging research suggests that HMOs could benefit immune functions, gut health, and cognition. HMO consumption has also been associated with fewer respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses in breastfed infants. This study will investigate the effect of feeding an infant formula and toddler drink that includes HMOs.
In the study, some infants may be eligible to receive an investigational milk-based formula at no cost for one year. Eligible participants may also be provided an investigational toddler drink for a year.
