Invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) is a serious illness caused by the bacterium Neisseria meningitidis (N. Meningitidis). Symptoms may include headache, fever, nausea, vomiting, photophobia, stiff neck, lethargy, myalgia, and a characteristic petechial rash. Your child may be eligible to receive study-related care and an investigative meningococcal vaccine at no cost through a clinical study.
