Invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) is a serious illness with symptoms that may include intense headache, fever, nausea, vomiting, stiff neck, and lethargy. At least 12 different meningococcal serogroups have been classified. Outbreaks of meningococcal disease have also been reported on college campuses in the US. Meningococcal disease can lead to meningitis, which is an infection of the lining of the brain and spinal cord.
Eligible participants…
- Must be age 19 to 25
- Must not have received a meningococcal serogroup B vaccine
- May receive compensation for time and travel
- May get study-related care at no cost
- Do not need insurance to join this study
